The Artists - Lindsay Mindler

With over 17 years of design experience—including leading large creative teams as the VP of Design at Pinterest—Lindsay blends expansive creativity with the disciplined execution. As the founder and principal designer of Sage & Gray Design, she creates spaces that are personal, cohesive, and enduring—drawing on deep trend insight and a forward-looking approach that helps clients invest in ideas built to last.
A lifelong dream became impossible to postpone after Lindsay and her family moved back from California’s fast-paced tech world and she experienced a life-threatening complication following the birth of her second child. The experience clarified what truly matters and pushed her to finally pursue the studio she had long envisioned—a practice focused on creating meaningful, personal spaces that bring people together and strengthen the community she calls home. This purpose continues to guide Sage & Gray Design and its mission to create environments that are not only beautiful, but connective and grounded in joy.

Lindsay leads the studio with both precision and warmth. Years collaborating with engineers, architects, and builders—and her own early background studying engineering alongside design—have sharpened her ability to translate complex ideas into elegant, livable spaces that feel effortless.

Lindsay brings an executive’s command of timelines, budgets, and systems—shaped by years managing creative teams of more than 150 people—ensuring every client’s investment is handled with integrity and foresight. Paired with her designer’s eye, she keeps every detail intentional and emotionally resonant. Known for seeing potential where others see limitation, she guides each phase of a project with clarity and calm, from architectural planning and lighting design to custom millwork and furnishings.

Rooted in Pittsford and serving Rochester, the Finger Lakes, and beyond, Sage & Gray Design specializes in high-end residential interiors, new builds, and full-home renovations. The studio’s aesthetic is grounded in organic materials—soft woods, natural stone, and textured textiles—layered with thoughtful color and contrast to create homes that feel elevated yet approachable.

Today, Sage & Gray includes two designers and Lindsay’s husband, all sharing her dedication to quality, collaboration, and craft. Together, the team partners closely with homeowners, artisans, and trades to strengthen the creative fabric of the region—celebrating the people and stories that make Upstate New York unique. Lindsay believes design can connect us more deeply to where we live and to one another, creating homes that bring family and friends together in meaningful ways.

A graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Design, Lindsay draws on her foundation in design thinking and technical craft to create work that is as intelligent as it is beautiful. Her ultimate goal is connection: to design spaces that reflect the life unfolding within them.

For Lindsay, great design isn’t just about how a home looks—it’s about how it feels to belong there.
